Cristin O’Rourke
Cristin O’Rourke earned her Masters in Social Work at University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2004 and is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Colorado. She worked in the fields of Child Welfare, Adult Protection, and Medical Social Work for over 20 years. Cristin’s role in the Hospice Division of a National Home Health and Hospice Company involves counseling and resource connection for people experiencing serious illness, death, grief, and loss. Cristin’s volunteer experience includes social justice advocacy for special needs children, the LGBTQ+ community, and victims of sexual violence.
Cristin is a busy mother of two teenagers. She grew up with an older brother and many cat, dog and pocket pet siblings. She had unique childhood experiences working with thoroughbred racing horses and assisting in capture and release of wild Peregrine Falcons. She also spent her teen years visiting nursing homes with her certified therapy cat, Max. She is currently owned by two beautiful rescue cats and two cheeky conures. Cristin enjoys drawing, painting, photography, gardening, nature and wildlife.
Dr. Himmelhoch and Cristin met as Sophomores at Swarthmore College. They became college roommates and have been dear friends for the past 36 years.
Cristin offers pet-loss grief counseling for individuals and for families of all forms by phone or Facetime. A $50 deposit is due prior to time of service. This covers the first 30 minutes with Cristin. Additional counseling costs $100 for every 30 minutes.
